I will explain here how to make a turn signal with Unreal. Before start you will need some requirements.
- Unreal Engine
- 3D model of a car
- UV map
- Texture of the car
In my case, I got the car from Polypixel. Everything worked well but visual feedbacks were missing: Separation between brake lights, turn signal,... Materials was a good solution for that, I prepared a material function that give me the color and switching during the time from yellow to nothing or only red color. Then a parameter allow to activate it from Vehicle code. To separate blink and brake, I added a texture mask on the main texture.
